A lesson plan and activity sheets based around working in a pharmacy. It is designed to introduce students to the important of medication safety, daily routines and roles in a pharmacy.
Students are given a ‘prescription’ for a TV character and they need to complete a blister pack for the patient based on what they need per day.
A blister pack is a pre-packed dose packaging that a pharmacy will produce for a patient. They will contain all the medication a patient will need to take at each time of the day. They are used to support patients who need additional help to stay organised with their medication, patients who take many different medications or helps those with dexterity issues reduce the number of tablets they need to pop out.
A comprehension activity where students read a short amount of text about different roles in the NHS and then colour the blank uniform to match the information in the text.
A series of activities in which students look at the journey of Danny, who has been injured when playing.
Students have to put the cards in order of who Danny sees and what they do to help him. They then watch the video to check their answers and then discuss what care Danny receives in the community (once he is discharged from hospital).
An activity where students have to label the clinician (e.g. doctor, nurse, operating department practitioner) with what protective equipment they are wearing.
